Jen is a Designer and Developer Advocate at Mozilla, where she represents the needs of people who make websites among the folks who make Firefox. She's a member of the CSS Working Group, the standards body that creates new CSS. And she's the host of the The Web Ahead podcast. Jen's been designing experiences for audiences for three decades, in theater, film, print and the web. These days she's inspiring the web industry to get creative with our graphic design, using new technologies like CSS Grid to best convey our stories to our audiences.

Dubbed “the Terry Gross of the tech industry,” Jen Simmons is the host and executive producer of The Web Ahead. Her in-depth interviews explain emerging technology and predict the future of the web — and won the 2015 Net Award for Podcast of the Year.

Besides designing for the web, Jen has years of experience designing for live performance and for print. Her projection and lighting design work has shown at theaters including the BAM Next Wave Festival, the National Theater of Belgrade, The Off Center, and Jump-Start Performance Co. Her short films toured film festivals around the globe, including RESFEST, Media That Matters, and on MTV Television. She taught digital media to high school kids in San Antonio and film production to college students in Philadelphia. Jen earned a MFA in Film and Media Arts from Temple University. She lives in New York City.
